Hike and Bike 2021

Hike & Bike - Haworth 24-26th March 2023

The Hike and Bike is a great event, which sees 100+ competitors across 25 teams taking part in a weekend of hiking, biking, socialising and a few beers along the way. It is organised by Area 9 Round Tables from Yorkshire, and is open to teams from all clubs of the Round Table Family, Round Table, Ladies Circle, 41 Club and Tangent.

At just £130.00 for your accommodation and all meals as a competitor (or £99 to come and marshal) all you need to remember are your walking boots, a bike (or hire one locally) and some beer money. It really is a great value and always memorable weekend.

After a great event in Castleton in 2021 we're heading to a brand new destination - HAWORTH in West Yorkshire - In the heart of Area 9!
Accommodation will be provided at the spacious and 4 star rated YHA Haworth and we will have exclusive use of the site for the weekend.

How do I book in?
You can book in with our easy booking options.
You can book in as a team of 3 or 4 from your club, or book in individually and we'll team you up.
Based upon the success of last year's events we suggest booking your places early.
Please note payments are non-refundable unless we have to cancel the entire event, but places are transferable.

Arrival
Arrival should be at the registration desk which will be situated within the YHA.  You should aim to register between 4pm and 7pm (arrangements will be possible for pre-notified late arrivals).

The Hike
On Saturday morning after a decent breakfast, teams will start to check out on the hike at pre-assigned intervals, being given the first checkpoint grid references.  The hike is split into checkpoints (which are provided at each stage of the hike) where there are physical and mental challenges.  Lunch is provided on the way round, and the hike takes all day being usually 15-20miles (but with plenty of opportunities for rest at the checkpoints).

The Bike
On Sunday morning, you will start a 20-25 mile bike ride.  Again you are checked out at pre-assigned intervals (dependent on your team position on Saturday evening).  For the bike you are given a full list of checkpoints, and have 3 hours to orienteer your team to score the most points from the checkpoints you visit.

Competition
There are various awards to compete for and all entrants/teams are eligible for:
The Main Competition.  Decided amongst the top half of the draw following the Hike.
The Plate Competition.  Decided amongst the bottom half of the draw following the Hike.

There is also the following awards up for grabs:
The Area 9 Cup.  Awarded to the best placed Area 9 team overall.
Best placed ladies/mixed team.
